Position Summary
The Software Quality Engineer works within the GDK (Game Development Kit) organization, which is a global team that focuses on the development of a gaming framework for use in all Light And Wonder gaming applications. This position is responsible for collaborating with GDK engineering teams in an agile software development environment, performing black box and white box testing to achieve high defect containment. Responsible for defining and running test cases based on software equirements, test automation efforts, code inspections, static and dynamic software analysis and peer reviews in order to ensure testing efficiency and high level of quality.
Essential Job Functions:
- Design, develop, review and execute test protocols and test scripts for various components of middleware and test game software.
- Work closely with engineering teams in an agile environment to identify, troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely manner
- Assist in automation test framework development efforts, develop test data inputs and execute automated test framework test cases
- Utilize static and dynamic analysis to identify latent software issues
- Identify test automation opportunities and develop scripting language based automation solutions
- Perform code differences to determine test scope and test associated focus areas
- Actively participate in code inspections and design reviews as needed
- Verify fixes and perform focused regression testing
- Ensure test components meet acceptance criteria per documented software and regulatory requirements
- Actively participate in software defect triaging, defect scrub meetings and Test Milestone hand-off meetings with Development and SQA
- Utilize all required databases for SQE functions and testing activities
- Provide input for regular project status reports
- Participate and provide input during post-mortem and root cause analysis phase
- Participate in project quality/schedule risk escalation reviews
- Assist the GDK Department on special projects
- Introduce process improvement initiatives
- Establish key contacts with other organizations that have a direct impact on SQE/SQA
Qualifications
Qualifications:
2 - 5 years of relevant test or development work experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of test automation frameworks (Robot Framework or similar) and API automation testing
- Working knowledge or experience with Test Case Management Systems
- Working knowledge or experience with Defect Management Systems (JIRA or equivalent)
- Working knowledge of computer operation and principles of computer hardware
- Knowledge of base practices for software development including configuration management, code reviews and coding standards
- Academic and/or working knowledge of Visual Studio
- Academic and/or working knowledge or experience with C and/or C++ and/or C#
- Academic and/or working knowledge of Windows and/or Linux/Unix
- Academic and/or working knowledge or experience with Python or other scripting languages
- Academic and/or working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Working knowledge of Agile methodologies
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to communicate and collaborate with other team members
- Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Capable of providing input and potential solutions to identified issues
- Ability to research and develop new test tools
- Ability to work with limited supervision
- Sense of ownership and responsibility
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science preferred
